JAIME HAYON: DESIGN WITH A SMILE

IMAGINATION WITHOUT LIMITS

Born in Madrid in 1974, Jaime Hayon has established himself as one of the leading figures in contemporary Spanish design. A multifaceted designer, artist, and creator, he has developed a world in which furniture is not merely meant to be functional—it must also evoke emotion. After studying industrial design, he joined Fabrica in 1997—the Benetton Group’s creative research center in Italy—where he later headed the design department. This formative experience allowed him to freely explore the boundaries between design, art, graphic design, and creativity.

Since then, Jaime Hayon has cultivated a style all his own: generous, organic forms, color, a touch of whimsy, and above all, a strong appreciation for artisanal craftsmanship. His work spans furniture, sculpture, painting, installations, and interior design. He collaborates with leading brands such as Fritz Hansen, BD Barcelona, Magis, Baccarat, and Cassina, while maintaining a style that is instantly recognizable.

For Hayon, design is taken seriously in its conception. Much less so in its attitude.

FURNITURE THAT INVITES YOU TO MAKE YOURSELF AT HOME

With Jaime Hayon, curves take center stage, and the furniture seems to naturally invite you to come closer, sit down, and enjoy the space. The Favn sofa, designed in 2011 and produced by Fritz Hansen, is a perfect example of this. Its name comes from the Danish word “favn,” which can be translated as “embrace.” This concept is reflected in its open silhouette, rounded lines, and enveloping seat. Whether in a lounge, a lobby, a VIP area, or even an exhibition booth, the Favn sofa easily becomes the centerpiece around which the space is organized. Its curves add a touch of softness and naturally soften the overly rigid lines of a decor.

The Showtime armchair, produced by BD Barcelona, reveals a more theatrical side of Jaime Hayon. The Showtime collection is one of the collaborations that have helped establish his unique aesthetic, blending classical references with contemporary expression. With its generous proportions and strong personality, the armchair can serve as a focal point in any interior design scheme all on its own. Dressed entirely in red, it instantly adds character without sacrificing comfort.

Two very different pieces, but the same goal: to make furniture that’s as eye-catching as it is functional.

WHY CHOOSE JAIME HAYON FURNITURE FOR AN EVENT?

The Favn sofa and the Showtime armchair pretty much sum up what makes Jaime Hayon’s world so interesting in the event industry: his designs have a distinct personality without making the space feel uncomfortable or hard to coordinate. Their generous curves help create warmer, less conventional environments. They can serve as the focal points of a lounge, define a VIP area, or add a more expressive touch to a brand event.

Renting furniture designed by Jaime Hayon allows you to incorporate recognizable, comfortable, and striking event furniture into a design concept—furniture that can set the tone with just a few pieces. And because his creations effortlessly straddle the line between design and art, they work particularly well when the furniture itself is meant to be part of the experience offered to guests.

Rooms that catch your eye. And really make you want to stay.
