AN ACRONYM WITHOUT ARTIFICE

DCW is the acronym of the brand's 3 founders: Olivier Desbordes, Philippe Cazer and Frédéric Winkler. Their shared story began in 2008, when they obtained exclusive rights to several collections of must-have lighting fixtures. As a starting point, they chose to market Bernard-Albin Gras's Gras lamps.

Based in Paris, they highlight a variety of lighting collections, as well as decorative accessories. Together, they also made a name for themselves with the re-edition of Julien-Henri Porché's Surpil chair, invented in 1927. This chair is described as robust, light, stackable and elegant. With the exception of the Surpil chairs, the brand publishes and reissues only lamps, wall lights, ceiling lights and a few decorative objects.

THE STORY OF A DESIGN ICON

Although the Gras lamp accompanied the launch of DCW EDITIONS, it was in 1921 that the very first model was invented. At the time, it was the first articulated lamp in history, and was even recognized by the famous designer Le Corbusier. This lamp made a lasting impression with its simplicity and robustness. One of its key features is that it has no screws or welds.

The Gras lamp, in its various shapes and colors, is now a design staple. Gras N°317, N°201 or N°312, the collection is vast. It includes floor lamps, wall lights, ceiling lights or simply table lamps. In 2014, an outdoor collection was launched: Gras outdoor lamps in size XL.

A DECORATIVE OBJECT

Beautifully crafted, the lamps that come out of DCW's workshops always find a place in a room of the House. In an event space such as an office or lounge, the object will be there to add cachet to the scenography while creating a real atmosphere to the place. While often associated with industrial style, the models are perfect for contemporary settings.
