The publisher Hay was created in 2002, at the initiative of Rolf and Mette Hay. They meet a great success when they present their very first collection of furniture, in 2003. This dynamic and contemporary company collaborates with many renowned designers to create products that combine functionality, aesthetics and accessibility.
Since then, Hay has become a major player in the contemporary furniture industry. The brand has flagship stores in several major cities, including Copenhagen, Stockholm, Munich, Tokyo and London. Their products are now sold all over the world, such as in Paris, where it is possible to find them in renowned outlets like Le Bon Marché or Fleux.
Their collection includes a wide range of furniture, including models of low armless chairs. In 2005, the Anglo-Danish designer Louise Campbell gave birth to the Prince Black low armless chair as part of a competition where designers had to create a seat for Crown Prince Frederik from Denmark. Edited by Hay, this driver has since won several awards and now reigns at the MoMA in New York. We count another significant collaboration with Leif Joergensen, who gave life to the Other One low armless chair. With futuristic looks and full-bodied, this modular seat can be accompanied by a pouf of the same name. Do you want more? Make way for the
Blow Black low armless chair by Foersom & Hiort-Lorenzen, also playing with the rounded ones: this is a contemporary interpretation of the essential "Sacco" armchair-bag created in 1968 for Zanotta.
Hay is not only about its offer for low armless chairs: the publisher offers a wide collection of furniture ranging from chairs, tables, sofas, shelves and lighting to accessories such as textiles, cushions, decorative objects or everyday utensils. Hay products are often available in a variety of colours and finishes, allowing spaces to be personalised according to preferences. It is for this reason that the brand is today as much acclaimed by professionals as by the general public.
The Danish label Hay also stands out for the iconic pieces it markets. There are many re-editions of furniture flagship design from the 50s, 60s and 70s, which the editor appropriates by offering new trendy colors. And we love it! This is the case of the Rey chair created by the Swiss designer Bruno Rey in 1971, which can now be found for rent at Maison Vachon. Solid, stackable, without screws: the Rey collection finds its letters of nobility in classic and more contemporary shades like green or red. All in wood, it is a seat that does not lack space or class around a dinner table!
