For Alberto Meda, design often begins with a very simple question: how can we do better with less?
Born in 1945 in Lenno Tremezzina, near Como in Italy, Alberto Meda
graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from the Polytechnic University of Milan. This background partly explains his very distinctive approach to furniture design: understanding materials, lightening structures and harnessing the potential of technology, rather than simply adorning objects.
His work with Alias plays a significant role in his career. From the late 1980s onwards, he designed several chairs for the Italian manufacturer, before developing the Frame range, based on a combination of extruded aluminium profiles, cast aluminium components and tensioned flexible surfaces. This design philosophy gave rise to various variations, including Meetingframe.
The result? Furniture in which the technical aspect is clearly evident, yet remains understated.
An engineer by training, a designer by vocation. And clearly, no fan of the superfluous.
Designed by Alberto Meda and produced by Alias, the Meetingframe collection was launched in 2002. It draws on the characteristic structural principle of the Frame family: a frame combining extruded and cast aluminium, complemented – depending on the version – by a seat and backrest in mesh or various upholstery options.
The Meetingframe office chairthus boasts a particularly light silhouette. The backrest and seat seem almost to blend into the structure, whilst the star-shaped base reinforces its graphic and contemporary look. Yet behind this apparent simplicity, every detail is designed with practicality in mind. The collection notably includes swivel versions with automatic return and a tilt mechanism, particularly suited to meeting and workspaces.
Whether around a meeting table, behind a desk or in a corporate setting, Meetingframe provides comfort without introducing a chair that is visually too imposing. At Maison Vachon, the model is available for hire in the designer office chairs category.
A meeting chair that really works its backrest. Both literally and figuratively.
In the events industry, setting up a workspace or meeting area requires a rather delicate balance. The furniture must be comfortable and functional, yet elegant enough to enhance the venue’s image. This is precisely where Meetingframe comes into its own.

Its slender frame helps maintain a real sense of visual lightness around a table, even when several chairs are in place. Its understated aesthetic blends easily into a temporary executive office, a meeting room, a press area, a showroom, an exhibition stand or a premium corporate environment. And unlike a traditional office chair, Meetingframe does not immediately give the impression that a meeting room has been moved into the middle of the event.
Hiring the Meetingframe chair therefore allows you to create a functional professional space whilst maintaining a genuine harmony with a contemporary setting.
Serious enough for work. Far less austere to look at.
At Maison Vachon, we love furniture that fulfils a very practical purpose without compromising on design. And with Alberto Meda’s Meetingframe, produced by Alias, the two go rather well together.
Available to hire from Maison Vachon, this armchair is ideal for furnishing a meeting room, an office, a showroom or a trade fair stand. Maison Vachon currently offers two Meetingframe models in its range of office armchairs.
A discreet, functional and elegant piece that ultimately sums up Alberto Meda’s approach quite well: working with the material to create a lighter design.
Because, after all, a meeting can be serious. But the armchair doesn’t have to be boring.
