FontanaArte is a specialist in the edition of lighting and decorative objects. The brand was founded in Milan by a complementary duo: Gio Ponti, architect and designer, and Luigi Fontana, industrial. Holder of a glass blowing company since 1881, he then enjoys an international reputation as he is for the time, the largest manufacturer of glass in Italy. It is his desire to break into the world of artistic glass that led him to partner with Gio Ponti, in order to give birth to remarkable creations before creating Fontana Arte in 1932.
Nowadays, the editor is still recognized for its blown glass lighting fixtures. It has a very wide range of lamps: bedside lamps, floor lamps, ceiling lights, wall lights, downlights; but also furniture: tables, bookcases and consoles. It is a reference when looking for high-end, elegant and functional lighting for both indoor and outdoor.
Among the iconic pieces of the brand, we note the historic suspension 0024 by Gio Ponti or even the Bianca model by Matti Klenel. More discreet but just as effective, we offer for rent the IO wall lamp in the shape of a small curved lunar disc. It is a lamp with double light emission, which gives it a warm and intimate effect. It was designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, a Swedish architecture studio created by Mårten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. Elegant and minimalist, this wall lamp features a double axis of rotation mount that allows the diffuser to rotate 360 degrees, directing light where it is needed.
FontanaArte win many awards such as the prestigious Compasso d'Oro in 1998, which is one of the most coveted awards in industrial design. The brand’s awards also include the Interactive Key Award in 2016, the Red Dot Award in 2014 and 2015, the IF Gold Design Award in 2014 as well as the Good Design Awards 2013. More recently, she obtained the Wallpaper Design Award in 2022.
