The Foscarini furniture publisher comes from Murano, an island in the Venetian lagoon famous for its glassblowing artistry. It was founded in 1981 by Carlo Urbinati and Alessandro Vecchiato and exclusively produces lightings. This manufacturer has ancestral expertise in the manufacture of blown glass, but also uses other materials such as wood, aluminium, Kevlar fibre and polyethylene.
Available for hire to light up your events, the Mite fibreglass floor lamp is the first project created by Foscarini and Marc Sadler. This slender model won the « Compasso d'Oro » award in 2001, which recognises the most beautiful designs made in Italy. It took two years of research and experimentation to develop this floor lamp, which is now acclaimed by the international design community.
This collaboration between the manufacturer and Marc Sadler has resulted in numerous other lighting fixtures, such as the Tress floor lamp, which creates an interplay of shapes, shadows and light thanks to its unique design, and the Giga Lite floor lamp.
Another notable collaboration is with designers Ludovica & Roberto Palomba, who created the Foscarini ceiling lights, inspired by nature and made from blown glass. By collaborating with renowned designers to create iconic lighting fixtures, the brand continues to push the boundaries of lighting design.
