Norman Cherner

Cherner Chair Company was founded in 1999 in the USA by the sons of the famous designer Norman Cherner, Thomas and Benjamin. Their will? To reintroduce on the market the most popular designs of their father, according to the same plans and the same methods of production. Among these creations very much in demand by the clientele, is the famous Cherner Chair created in the 1950s for the company Plycraft.

MUCH MORE THAN A SIMPLE CHAIR

The Cherner chair, made of moulded plywood, is THE must-have piece from this manufacturer. Its hourglass shape, or ‘wasp waist’ depending on your taste, makes it a particularly original seat. It is available with or without armrests, making it either a chair or an armchair. Do you like perfect combinations? Then the Cherner table is for you. With the same finesse as the chairs, it has all the characteristics of an exceptional model: sculptural curves, lightness, robustness and meticulous finishes. The Cherner Chair Company does not only produce chairs, but also a whole range of furniture including tables, stools, benches and many other pieces of furniture.

Their collection includes the Cherner oval and rectangular tables, designed by Benjamin Cherner to fit perfectly with his father’s chairs.

Today, it is possible to find Cherner’s creations in the permanent collections of prestigious museums such as the Vitra Design Museum in Germany.
