WHEN THE DESIGNER BECOMES AN EDITOR

This contemporary company, based in San Sebastian, Spain, was founded in 1983. Today, its style is described as modern, light and Mediterranean.

Jesús Gasca, STUA's founder and principal designer, specializes in technically complex designs with great attention to detail. The furniture he designs is the foundation of Stua's style. For him, “good design is not just about beautiful shapes, it must always be intelligent in solving functional issues”. What sets him apart is that he plays with curves, composing timeless, durable designs that remain simple and elegant.

THREE EXCEPTIONAL DESIGNERS

If we had to choose 3 names for STUA, they would be those of its 3 flagship designers. Truly in tune with the editor's style, we find Jesùs Gascsa, of course, but also his son Jon Gasca, behind the Eclipse coffee table. Father and son often collaborate on unique creations such as the Nube armchair, which plays with geometry, or the Onda stool, an ergonomic model imitating the curves of the human body. The duo is supported by designer Joseph Mora, who brings a highly technical dimension to each of their work.

A HOST OF AWARDS

Stua was honored with the National Design Award, which represents the most important recognition for a design company in Spain.
The company also won the Innovate Design Melbourne award for its Egoa chair, designed by Joseph Mora and Jesus Gasca in the 2000s.

Building on its success, the publisher now boasts a new production site with innovative recycling and energy-saving tools. In fact, it favors solar energy, clean processes in product manufacturing, and the development of plastic-free packaging.
