Thierry Rouiller: the man behind Maison Vachon’s bestsellers

Thierry Rouiller: from cabinetmaking to contemporary design

Behind some of Maison Vachon’s most iconic creations lies a French designer who knows the company inside out: Thierry Rouiller.

Born in 1979, he trained at the École d’ameublement de Paris, specialising in industrial design, and obtained his Brevet des Métiers d’Art in cabinetmaking. This background has given him a dual skill set: mastery of traditional craftsmanship and a genuine understanding of design. In 2001, he joined Maison Vachon and trained alongside Bernard Mourier. He then took part in the restoration of period furniture and the construction of sets for Studio Vachon.

Over the years, he has guided the company’s transition towards designer and contemporary furniture, creating pieces tailored to the specific needs of the events industry. Among his creations that have become must-haves are: the Table Galère, the MOB range with its tables, bars and console tables, the Haussmann and Faubourg bars, and the Iceberg desk. These are creations that do more than simply follow trends; some have become true hallmarks of Maison Vachon.

The Galère Table: a best-seller that brings people together

Among Thierry Rouiller’s flagship designs, the Galère Table holds a special place. Having become one of Maison Vachon’s most successful signature pieces, it perfectly embodies the brand’s philosophy: to design furniture that combines aesthetics, functionality and conviviality. Designed to enhance moments of togetherness, it is the natural choice for cocktail parties, receptions and corporate events.

Its success is a testament to the designer’s ability to create pieces that meet the practical needs of event organisers, whilst maintaining a strong visual identity. A name that evokes hardship, for a table that brings people together.

The MOB range: modularity as a hallmark

Another iconic creation by Thierry Rouiller is the MOB range, comprising tables, bars and console tables, amongst other pieces. With this collection, the designer explores an approach particularly well-suited to the events sector: offering pieces of furniture capable of integrating into different layouts and serving multiple purposes.

A bar to create a convivial space, a console table to display decorative items, or a table to structure a reception area: the range allows for the creation of cohesive layouts. This versatility makes it a real asset for event agencies, set designers and organisers who wish to design functional spaces without compromising on aesthetics.

With MOB, the furniture adapts to the event. Not the other way round.

The Haussmann and Faubourg bars: the art of hospitality

With the Haussmann and Faubourg bars, Thierry Rouiller puts his expertise as a cabinetmaker at the service of designs with a distinctive character. These two ranges reflect his passion for furniture-making and the richness of decorative styles.

At a reception, cocktail party or brand event, the bar is often one of the focal points of the layout. It welcomes guests, encourages conversation and plays a key role in setting the atmosphere. The Haussmann and Faubourg collections thus transform functional furniture into a true element of the overall design.

Because a beautiful bar isn’t just for entertaining. It also sets the tone for the evening.

The Iceberg Desk: a design that breaks the mould

Another striking creation by the designer, the Iceberg desk illustrates his ability to conceive furniture that transcends the traditional conventions of professional interior design. It serves as a reminder that workspaces, interview sets and temporary corporate environments can also become genuine platforms for design expression.

With this creation, Thierry Rouiller demonstrates that functionality and personality can coexist perfectly.

A desk that does more than simply make an appearance.

Thierry Rouiller and Maison Vachon: over 20 years of design

Since joining the company in 2001, Thierry Rouiller has helped shape the identity of the Maison Vachon catalogue. From the restoration of antique furniture to the design of contemporary collections, his career reflects the evolution of the company and its ability to combine artisanal craftsmanship, creativity and event management expertise.

The Table Galère, the MOB range, the Haussmann and Faubourg bars, and the Iceberg desk are all testament to this enduring collaboration. These creations are all available for hire from Maison Vachon to furnish lounge areas, receptions, trade fairs, showrooms and corporate events.

What if the secret to a best-seller were, after all, quite simple? A beautiful design, a well-thought-out function and a creation that stands the test of time without ever going out of fashion.
