Born in 1951 in Tel Aviv, Israel, Ron Arad studied at the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design in Jerusalem before attending the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. In 1981, he co-founded the One Off studio with Caroline Thorman. He quickly gained recognition with the famous rover chair, an armchair made from a Rover car seat mounted on a tubular metal frame. Throughout his career, Ron Arad has explored the possibilities of steel, aluminum and plastics.
